Sterilisation Qualification/Status Acronyms

To all NZSSA members,

Following an enquiry from an NZSSA, the NZSSA executive team have developed a short number of Acronyms/ Initialisms that members can use after their names when sending out official emails. These are:

RST = Registered Sterile Technician.                                                                           

This can only be used by qualified sterile technicians (L4 or level 3 pre 2019) who have a current portfolio registered with the NZSSA.

CST = Certificate in Sterilising Technology.                                                            

For holders of level 4 certificate in sterilising technology or those holding level 3 prior to 2019 who do not have current registration with the NZSSA.

DST = Diploma Sterile Technology.                                                                                     

To be used only by those who hold a level 5 diploma in sterilising technology.
