IMMIGRATION GREENLIST APPLICANTS

Kia ora, this message is for services considering employment of overseas applicants and the applicants themselves. Where a technician currently working and living overseas applies for a job in New Zealand as a Sterile Services Technician with entry through the immigration green list criteria, their overseas qualification must be assessed as equivalent to the New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 4). The assessment is conducted by the New Zealand Sterile Science Association (NZSSA) as agreed with the Ministry of Health. Instructions for the process and the application form for overseas qualified technicians to complete in order for their qualifications to be assessed against the NZ qualifications is on the NZSSA Careers page: https://nzssa.co.nz/career-opportunities/ These are the requirements for all Technicians entering under the green list. Should the technician meet the equivalency they will not need to complete the NZ Level 4 qualification. They have a requirement to remain a member of the NZSSA with the intention of them becoming registered technicians once they have assimilated to working in NZ. If the overseas qualification is assessed as not equivalent to the New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 4), the applicant cannot be issued a work visa under the immigration green list criteria. Please contact the NZSSA if you have any queries. Alison
